Duties:
The role involves working with an 11-year-old girl who has cerebral palsy and sensory processing challenges including sensitivity to smells and noise. She uses both a walking stick and a wheelchair and enjoys a variety of interests including horse riding, dog therapy, swimming, quizzes, going out for lunch, and shopping trips into town.
- Accompanying and supporting the young lady at horse riding and swimming lessons.
- Attending medical appointments and supporting rehabilitation activities.
- Supporting school attendance.
- Engaging in social activities with family and friends.
- Taking trips to the cinema, shops, restaurants, and other local outings.
- Assisting with personal care routines as required.
- Encouraging independence and self-care where possible.
- Performing physiotherapy exercises under guidance.
- Preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks.
- Supporting general household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and changing linen
- Other light domestic chores as requested
Criteria:
- Female applicants only due to the personal nature of the role.
- Aged 25 or over.
- Full UK driving License.
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience working with young people with complex conditions.
- Ability to swim.
- Strong communication skills and good at building positive relationships.
- Respectful of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of equestrianism or willingness to learn.
- Comfortable around dogs and other pets.
- Patient, fun, and with a good sense of humour.
- Able to work independently and adapt to varying routines.
